Forest at Night

Own Game Project – Sound Design & Music

Project Overview

Forest at Night is a walking simulation game I developed as part of a school project focused on 3D sound.

Using a combination of my own ambisonic recordings and other field recordings captured in the forest at night—including sounds of a bonfire, frogs, and an owl — I created a rich and naturalistic forest soundscape, with seamless transitions between the game’s different environments.

The sound was implemented using FMOD with Google Resonance’s Spatializer to achieve an immersive 3D soundscape , utilizing both ambisonics and mono sound sources. Most of the sound sources in the game have various layers that shift based on the player’s distance to the source.
